Inside Out is student center situated within The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The design uses interlocking slabs to define continuous spaces, and drew inspiration from Mondrian’s neoplasticism paintings. Programatically, the building consists of a gallery, library and reading rooms.

Inside Out

Whilst spaces on the ground floor have a quality of transparency and openness, the floors above gradually become more private. A large outdoor balcony is placed on the east side of the 2nd floor adjacent to the site’s existing trees, which shades most of the building’s east elevation.
